Road Safety Week

To celebrate the Road safety week, The NSS unit of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna conducted an awareness drive on Road Safety on 7th of February 2018 in front of the Fr. Agnel Technical Complex in coordination with NGO Goacan. Around 130 NSS volunteers along with NSS officers Mr. Simon D’ Silva, Mrs Lira Camilo and the staff participated in the programme.

Mr. Roland Martins along with his team and the traffic police were a part of the programme. This programme was followed by a talk on Road Safety delivered by Police Inspector Roy Pereira of Vasco Police Station.The Principal Mr. J R Rebello and other staff members were also present for the same.

A poster competition on Road Safety was also held and first place was bagged by Miss Ritiksha Devidas and Miss Meliva Silva and the second place was bagged by Miss Rutika Kale and Miss Rishika Kumari.

The students being upcoming Riders and drivers were made aware of various rules and precaution in maintaining Road discipline. The programme ended at around 1pm.

NSS Camp Report 2017 (Sadolxem)

Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna conducted NSS Camp at Govt. High School Sadolxem, Canacona Goa from 14th Oct to 20th Oct 2017. The inaugural ceremony was held on 15th Oct at 10 am. Dignitaries on the dais were Prnicipal of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna Mr. J. R. Rebello, Manager Rev. Fr. Victor Rebello, Parish priest of Sadolxem Church Rev. Fr. Alexander Fernandes, Mr. Bipin Prabhu Dessai Panchayat elected member of Sadolxem village, Headmaster of Govt. High school Sadolxem Mr Sudesh Naik, NSS Programme Officer Mr Simon D’ Silva, Assist. Programme Officer Ms Lira Camilo and Mr. Bruno Carvalho. The camp was inaugurated by the chief guest Rev Fr. Alexander Fernandes by lighting the traditional lamp. Speaking before the NSS volunteers he informed the need and importance of NSS and wished everyone ‘Best of Luck’

Various sessions were conducted during the camp. A session on use of Natural Ayurvedic medicine in day today life was delivered by Dr. Divakar Gaonkar Health officer Canacona Goa, Nutritional Diet for Teenagers was delivered by Ms Mayuri Prabhu Gaonkar Teacher from Mallikarjun high school Canacona, Personality Development was delivered by Mr Nelvin Fernandes Teacher from Mallikarjun high school Canacona and Sex Education was delivered by Ms Roqueinha Monteiro Pereira Teacher at Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna.

During the camp many cultural activities were organised and various projects were undertaken like Cleaning of Galgibag Beach, Tolponn Jetty, Sadolxem village and Campus of Govt. High school Sadolxem.

NSS volunteers celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm. Hike was also conduted at Ghogel Sadolxem during the camp.

The veladictory function was held on the last day where cultural programme was organised for all the villagers of Sadolxem. Those who attended were gifted with cloth bags and door mats made by the NSS volunteers thus spreading the message. Chief guest for the veladictory function Mr. Bipin Prabhu Dessai praised the NSS volunteesrs for their tremendous job. He also mentioned that his villagers got to learn many things from NSS volunteesrs of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna. The chief guest ended his speech welcoming the NSS volunteers of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School to Sadolxem in the future too. Expressing her views NSS volunteer Miss Queency Silva said that all were happy to be part of such a wonderful and well organised NSS camp and also mentioned that they learnt many things like Time management, Cooking, Cleaning etc. Mast. Semron Colaco from XI vocational and Miss Rutika Kale from XI Commerce were awarded best camp boy and camp girl respectively. Miss Sampata Bajantri from XI vocational was awarded the most hardworking girl during the camp.

The camp was successfully organised under the guidance of NSS Programme officer Mr. Simon D’ Silva and Asst. Programme officer Ms Lira Camilo. All teaching as well as non-teaching staff of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose higher Secondary school visited the camp and even stayed overnight with the campers.

Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Pakwada cleanliness drive at Nuvem Panchayat Ghar

Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Pakwada cleanliness drive was conducted by the NSS unit of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna on 8th Aug 2017 under the guidance of NSS officer Mr. Simon D’ Silva And Mrs Lira Camilo to clean the Nuvem Panchayat Ghar and its surrounding. The total number of 31 volunteers participated in the drive. Lot of plastic Garbage was collected from the Panchayat compound basically created by the market. Four Panchayat elected members were present and witnessed the cleanliness drive. The drive was started at 9am and ended at 10am after providing refreshments to the volunteers.

Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Pakwada cleanliness drive

Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Pakwada cleanliness drive was conducted by the NSS unit of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna on 7th Aug 2017 under the guidance of NSS officer Mr. Simon D’ Silva And Mrs Lira Camilo. The NSS unit was divided into 2 groups (Indoor and Outdoor). All the labs of the Higher Secondary namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics and Library was cleaned by the volunteers.

The 2nd group was taken outdoors to prune the over grown trees surrounding the Higher Secondary building with the help of the PE. Teacher Mr. Ivan D’ Sa. The cleanliness drive was started at 10am and ended at 11.30am after giving the refreshment to the NSS volunteers.

NSS Report on Yoga day 2017

The NSS unit of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna observed the world INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY on 21st June 2017 under the leadership of the NSS In-charge Mr. Simon D’ Silva. Mr. Sanjay Chyari former NSS Programme officer conducted the Yoga Asana. The other staff members also attended the session. It was a good experience for the newly joined NSS volunteers.

NSS Special Camp Report 2016-17

Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna recently conducted its NSS Special Camp at Govt. High School, Morpilla Fatorpa Balli Quepem Goa.

The camp was inaugurated by the Headmistress Ms. Morena Miranda of Govt. High School, Morpilla. Principal Mr. Bruno Carvalho, NSS Prog. Officer Mr. Sanjay Chyari, Lady Incharge Ms. Sangeeta Gaunkar and other teachers were also present on the occasion.

Principal Bruno Carvalho welcomed the guest and gave a brief outline of the camp and its benefits.

Ms. Morena Miranda appealed to the volunteers to develop their personality, maintain discipline and the work for the benefits of the society. She also advised to visit village and try to talk to villagers, understand the living lifestyle and also the problems face in the village.

The NSS volunteers undertook many activities during the seven day camp period. They cleaned the school premises and the village temple. They conducted a village survey to inquire about the hygiene, toilets facility and waste management. A special questioner was used to collect data by NSS volunteers while conducting survey.

In order to develop personality of the volunteers many session and competition were also organised during the camp period. Mr Sanjay Chyari NSS Prog. Officer conducted every day early in the morning Yoga session. He taught many asana, pranayam and their benefits.

Ms. Roqueinha Pereira, a biology teacher conducted a session on hygiene and cleanness.

Ms. Anna Sayad, renowned advocate conducted session on “Law and right of citizen”.

Mr. Oscar Da Costa conducted session on “Leadership”. Mr. Somu Rao conducted session on “Scientific Temperament”. He demonstrated many science related experiment through which are used by the certain people to fool the masses as miracles.

Dr. Shivram Naik, Medical Officer conducted session on “First Aid” and ayurvedic Dr. Santosh Vernekar conducted session on “Psychological problem of focused mind”.

Dr. Heena Sayed conducted session on personality development. She stressed on five key points i.e. confidence, leadership, listening, body language and communication skill”.

Mr. Siddharth Nayak and Mr. Videsh Khandeparker conducted session on astronomy & sky observation and showed different planets using a telescope. Mr. Nayak also spoken the astronomy and different types of zodiac sign.

At the concluding function the Deputy Sarpanch Mr. Biva Velip was the chief guest, Principal Mr. Bruno Carvalho, Ms. Lucienne Viegas, Ms. Yvonne Ribeiro, Mr. Sumant Soiroji, Mr. Sanjay Chyari – NSS Prog. Officer and Lady Incharge Ms. Sangeeta Gaunkar were present. Mr. Velip commended the good work done in the village and the discipline maintain by the volunteers throughout the camp period. Ms. Amalia Silva was selected as Best Camp Girl and Mast. Jeson Mascarenhas was declared as Best Camp Boy. Ms. Sangeeta Gaunkar proposed vote of thank.

NSS Special Camp Report

The NSS Unit of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Agnelganv, Verna recently held their annual NSS Special Camp at Dayanand Bandodkar High School, Gokulde –Paddi, Quepem Goa from 7th November to 13th November 2015.

The main projects undertaken were school ground leveling, garden making, cleaning of school surrounding, Village Temple and Survey of Village.

The camp was inaugurated at the hands of Sarpanch of the Village panchayat Barshe, Ms. Savita Velip in the presence of Mr. Govind Velip, Head Master of Dayanand Bandodkar High School, Mr. Bruno Carvalho – Principal of Fr. Agnel M. Higher Sec. School and the NSS Programe Officers Mr. Sanjay Chyari & Ms Kamini Chari. The NSS Prog. Officer Ms. Kamin Chari welcomed the guests.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Savita Velip said that the NSS Camp provide the students with opportunity to interact with society through social work. She also assured all the help from the panchayat in implementing the projects.

Mr. Govind Velip, Head Master spoke on the importance of social service and also congratulated the higher secondary for their good results every year. Further requested the volunteers to take care of school property and camp site.

Mr. Bruno Carvalho highlighted the importance of camp and the different activity to be carried out during the days to follows. He also stressed that nation building activities are the need of the hour.

The NSS Volunteers during the camp cleaned the surrounding of school premises and beautified the school garden. The volunteer walked around 3 km from the camp site to clean the Durga temple area, while coming back they brought stones to set the garden.

In order to develop physical fitness of the volunteers, Yoga sessions were conducted every morning by Mr. Sanjay Chyari, NSS Prog Officer. To enhance the knowledge and skill of the volunteers a session on public speaking was conducted by Mr. Sudesh Naik, PE Teacher from MES Higher Secondary School, Vasco. Mr. Oscar Da Costa conducted a session on Leadership. Dr. Nafisa C. Vaz, Medical Officer, Primary health center, Balli conducted a session on “Tuberculosis and its control” and Ms. Melkiza Furtado, Nutrition Officer gave away talk on Nutrition & its deficiency. Mr. Bruno Carvalho, Principal of Fr. Agnel M. Hr. Sec. school, conducted a session on personal hygiene and sex education.

During the camp a slide show on the topic “Universe” and sky observation through astronomical telescope was conducted by the member of Association of friends of Astronomy (Goa) Mr. Videsh Khandeparkar – Co-ordinator , Mr. Anmol Naik and Junior member Mast. Manan were present. The programe invoked a keen interest among the volunteers.

At the valedicatory function, Ms. Dharshita Chari, Teacher in Mathematics ate Dhempo Higher Secondary School, Kujera School complex, Bamboli and also ex-student of Fr. Agnel M. Hr. Sec. School, verna was the chief guest. She commended the good work done by the volunteers during camp. Mr. Bruno Carvalho congratulated the volunteers and the teacher in-charge for the successfully completing the camp. Mr. Allwyn fernandes, the mathematics teacher of our school was also present on the occasion, he stressed the importance of hard work in achieving success and also praised the volunteers for their good work.

The NSS Prog. Officer Ms. Kamini Chari while proposing the vote of thanks said that discipline, dedication and determination are a key to success. She thanked the management of Dayanand Bandodkar high school for providing their premises and other facilities for the NSS volunteers during their stay and the people of Gokulde for their overwhelming support.

The camp was held under the guidance and supervision of the NSS Prog. Officers Mr. Snjay Chyari and Ms. Kamini Chari, they were assisted by Mr. Kasturb Chari.

Mast. Oren Alemao and Mast. Mark Menezes were declared the best camp boys. Total sixty volunteers took part in the camp.  

Installation of Student`s Council,NSS and YRC

4th July 2015

“A good beginning marks a good end” was the true motive behind the inaugural day celebrated at The Fr. Angel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School .This event marked the beginning of the new academic year 2015-16. The day began with the inaugural mass based on the theme “Lead A New Life Holding On To The Hand Of Jesus” celebrated by  Fr. Seby Rodrigues in the school auditorium .There after the stage was set for the inaugural event.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by the principal Mr Bruno Carvalho. The chief guest of the day was Mr Girish Sardesai ,a lawyer by profession ,who was an ex student. Alongside were present Mr. Vivek the vice principal and Fr. Seby Rodrigues, assistant to the local superior. A lamp was lit to mark the inaugural.

Thereafter Mr Girish gave a inspirational speech which expressed qualities such as leadership and success. The student`s council was appointed and they along with the NSS and YRC volunteers took their respective oath and promised to uphold them. Varun Carvalho General secretary of the student`s Council addressed the gathering and put forth before the students, the Year`s Plan and Activities. The students gave a wonderful performance signifying their faith in God. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Shane Mazarello the Secretary of the student`s council. The students sang the National Anthem depicting their patriotism.

The comperes for the event were Miss Switzy and Master Savio.

The whole event was co-ordinated by the student`s council Incharge Teachers Ms. Rexcy Rodrigues and Ms. Ameeta Mohanan.

 

The International Yoga Day

Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School celebrates International Yoga Day

The International Yoga Day celebration at Fr. Agnel MultipIMG_4466urpose Higher Secondary School, Verna was held on 20th June 2015 at 9.30 a.m. in the higher secondary premises.

The programme began by showing the students the information from the Ayush Ministry, Govt. of India regarding yoga Āsana and Prānāyāma on International Yoga Day.

Later NSS Programe Officer Mr. Sanjay Chyari demonstrated Asana and Pranayama to the students.

The students actively participated in the progamme and they showed keen interest in performing the asanas and felt that it should be done atleast once a week.

Other faculty members, Mr. Kamini Chari – NSS Programe Officer, Mrs. Luciene Viegas – Ex-NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Sumant Soiroji – Computer Teacher and Mr. Ivan D Sa – P.E. Teacher took active part in the programme and were a source of motivation to the students. A total of 5 groups under the guidance of programme officer Mr. Sanjay Chyari performed the asana till 12.00 noon.

The programme would not have been a success if not for the keen interest shown by the Principal Mr. Bruno Carvalho and Vice Principal Mr. Vivek Rodrigues to make the International Yoga Day celebration. IMG_4474
